Ron Van Meter rekindled his love for cars in the late 70’s. He worked for Sloan Brothers Buick and there, amongst many experiences, Ron attended all the computer training schools necessary to build his technical experience. Ron’s Engines opened shop January 9, 1980. Time went along as they developed into the first independent that had a scope. Ron’s was known for having an immaculate and freshly painted shop. Ron’s Engines was the 1st new parts car shop in Midland, Texas. They eventually out grew this shop and moved to 3001 W. Wall where they held their grand opening.
In the early days of drag racing Ron appeared on the scene with a Ford Mustang and his first blown alcohol dragster that quickly began his career and probably just as monumental, making a name for “Ron’s Engines”. Through his passion for high speed competition he evolved into a more modern design that turned into a custom painted Dodge Challenger and alcohol dragster.

As a result from Ron’s promotions he gained notoriety for providing elite custom restorations and used his talents to help businesses use assets for their exposure. For example, 97 Gold sought Ron’s expertise and guidance to restore a vintage Chevrolet Corvette for their promotional use and as always Ron did nothing short of creating a masterpiece.
Ron Van Meter became noticed by publications such as Classic Trucks magazine. He restored a 1947 Chevrolet pickup truck that made the front cover of that issue. The issue highlighted Ron’s relentless pursuit for detail and wrote of his life long passion for custom restorations. To this day, at Ron’s Engines creativity runs rampant with color, character and glamour for vehicles that were once destined to be abandoned.
